Epic Guild Event Results: Bugs 1 - 0 Cyrus

Jan 08, 2012 - 10:24 PM - by Redh
Sunday 8th January saw the first meaningful guild event for Cyrus in SWTOR. However it was not quite the outcome we were all hoping for. We expected to outnumber the enemy, but we didn't expect to encounter so many problems with the game and server.

Cyrus in Ilum: We are not a zerg guild. We are not a zerg guild. We are not a zerg guild. Resistance is futile!

The first problem we encountered was long server queues. This prevented some members from joining us at all for the event, and caused many others to have to quit when they were disconnected from the server. We even lost our Raid Leader early into the evening, who was not able to get back ingame for the rest of the event.

More seriously though, the lag on Ilum was far more than it should have been. The game hasn't been... [Read More]

SWTOR server: Tomb of Freedon Nadd

Dec 13, 2011 - 7:09 AM - by Redh
Cyrus will be rolling on the server Tomb of Freedon Nadd in SWTOR!

We were originally allocated to a different server during the pre-launch deployment, however having looked at the list of opposition guilds on that server we felt that it would be a better move for us in the long run to stick with our original plan and join the EU PvP server initiative where we will find much stronger guilds to compete against.

We are very disappointed in the way Bioware have managed the server deployment, as it seems all of our allies and adversaries choices have been ignored, making the whole process completely pointless for us. It also seems that the efforts to create a primary EU PvP server have been ignored, as many of the guilds were spread around different servers. This means that whereas before we had planned a balanced server... [Read More]

Goodbye, Rift...

Nov 28, 2011 - 2:13 PM - by Redh
It is with some sadness that I announce the closure of Cyrus in Rift. Most of our members will be moving to SWTOR with us, while the remaining few are seeking pastures new to continue their journey in Telara.

We have again been a very successful guild in Rift. Best known on Whitefall, we completely dominated the server when it came to PvP, whilst managing to maintain a fun and competitive PvE raid group which cleared everything but the last boss in Hammerknell. We had hoped to do this before moving on to SWTOR, however the stresses and strains of some raiders moving on and some raiders staying has been too much for us to survive.

Sheeping people. Some of the best fun we had in Rift!

We would like to thank everyone in the Rift community for making the game so much fun over the past several months. We have... [Read More]

CYRUS now recruiting for SWTOR!

Nov 27, 2011 - 8:38 PM - by Redh
Cyrus was founded in March 2009, and Star Wars: The Old Republic will be our fourth MMO venture.

We started life in Warhammer Online (originally called Exodus) and became the largest and most active Order PvP guild on the Karak-Norn server. We played a central role in co-ordinating our faction, hosting cross-alliance community initiatives to try and bring the many guilds and alliances on the server together in an attempt to take the fight to the numerically superior Destruction side.

Cyrus in Warhammer, known as Exodus. We fought for Order on Karak-Norn.

We later moved to Aion where we became a top 10 ranked Elyos PvP guild on the Perento server. Intending to pursue our enjoyment of PvP, we were one of the primary guilds in the early days of the game, however the severe PvE grind and lack of meaningful PvP... [Read More]

Cyrus turns to the Dark Side

Nov 19, 2011 - 8:41 PM - by Redh
For three generations, Cyrus have been fighting on the side of all that is Good. In Warhammer Online, Aion and Rift we have served our conscience and been loyal to the natural forces of Order. We have fought many hard battles, some with heavy casualties, yet we have always prevailed. But even the most loyal servant can sometimes find a darkness within...

This December sees the release of the new Bioware MMO 'Star Wars - The Old Republic'. And as we get closer to launch, we have been hearing about the PvP systems already in place within the gaming world. Open world, objective-based, persistent PvP. This. Is. Awesome! Rift has been tiresome lately, and every patch refocuses the game more and more towards PvE content. And while we have enjoyed both PvP and PvE at the highest levels, even the most battle-hardened Rift player will admit that open world PvP is dead.
