Yesterday evening Exodus reached guild rank 16! This is good news for some, and not so good news for others...

For the officers of Exodus, it is good news. Luxury furnishings, extravagant food and wine, and all the refined company you could wish for! That's right - guild rank 16 has granted us access to the Leaders Hall, where we can get away from the rabble and riff raff :D

The bad news of course is that being guild rank 16 takes us just one step away from the planned tax (boo, hiss!). Once we hit guild rank 17, we will introduce a 10% guild tax, which *only* affects looted income. Guild tax does not affect quest income, vendor transactions, auction house sales, trades or any other form of income in the game. The only time you pay tax is when you loot a corpse. More details on this can be found within our member forums.


On a brighter note, reaching guild rank 17 will bring something very useful for all guild members - it will change the way you travel forever! Details will be posted on this next time.

And screw the tax :D
It's barely noticeable, and we have now Guild Recall scrolls!!
no more 15 min rides to go to the city!

And the guild tax of 10% wont be noticeable anyway so we dont have to worry about that

To be honest, maybe the tax is a bit too.. low? Most of players cash come from AH and quests anyways, and if that isn't taxed, the income may not be sufficient for whatever it will be used for, for example keep upgrades :D . Just saying. Anyways, Gratz! for the guild on rank 16, and the Leaders/Officers for that fancy hall :p

perhaps a poll about the tax rate? i'd gladly pay 30-40%.. because its only from loots it wont affect me very much.

Well Id say 50% would be pretty decent too. I have yet to get any decent amount of money from a corpse anyway. Probably 99.99% of total income comes from quests/item drops anyway

On the topic of tax rates, isnt it possible to set a personal guild tax, that sort of works like a donation?

Yeah I think that is 'tithe'.

E.g. if guild tax is 10% and you have a tithe at 40% you pay a total of 50%.
But only the 10% is forced.

Thanks for the responses. I've had a lot of feedback from members concerning the guild tax rate, and so far everyone has said that 10% is too low, especially when they realise which elements of the game are taxed. I still think it would put off new and potential members to the guild if the tax rate was set too highly.

So far we have made far more than I thought we would do from the voluntary 'opt-in' tithes, which has been very welcome and encouraging. And perhaps this is the way to go. Maybe we set a 10% - 20% tax rate, and a suggested tithe rate too.

I would prefer to be able to provide members with facts and statistics based on a taxed income and projected expenditure rather than set the tax rate too high for the sake of it, so I would still propose starting us at 10% so that everyone can see for themselves exactly how it works. We can then work out roughly how much income can be expected from various tax rates and take it from there.

Don't forget you can also deposit money directly to the guild vault, as a few of us have already done so :)
