It's been a busy couple of weeks at Cyrus, with our first pre-release members finally closing in on level 50 and making something of a competition of it. And how nice it is that the race was between members who are always on Ventrilo and actually playing the game themselves!
Although there have been many members who sprinted ahead at the earlier phases of the game, only to be burned out all too quickly, the hottest race from levels 45+ were between the vastly overpowered and easymode Spiritmaster Ukproud (officially the worst SM on the server), and the full healing specced, slow levelling Cleric of Redh (much praised, group-specced healer and friend of the world).
With Ukproud ahead for levels 1 to 48, he clearly didn't take the threat of the Redh seriously early on. However by the end he was clearly worried for his prime position, pulling all-nighters, not going to work, and taking every opportunity to distract his competition. However, it was not to be enough, as 'Matchstick Redh-Eye' managed to pip Ukproud to the finishing line, thanks largely to the endless donations from guild members of mana pots, DP food, running scrolls and true love! It was a real team effort, and the guild certainly united to take down that pesky Spiritmaster!
So with Redh and Ukproud at level 50 and already working on their gold armour sets, the focus shifted to another race that was heating up - between yet another Spiritmaster and Cleric! This time it was Hinata vs Gemm, and again both members went into hardcore mode to try and capture the final medal position.
Gemm of course was the hot favourite to be the first to level 50, and would have been had she not rerolled from a Chanter early on in the game. If only someone had warned her that the Cleric would suit her playstyle better? Eh? Eh? :rolleyes:
However she was not to be denied 3rd place, as Hinata wimped out at the last hurdle, while Gemm became an impressive force of focus and firepower, even stooping so low as to ninja Earths Wrath IV from her ever loyal and generous Cleric guild leader.
With more members approaching level 50 now every day, and even more high level members joining us, times at Cyrus are going to be very exciting in the new year. We very much look forward to shifting the focus away from level grinding to endgame.
