Sunday 10th April saw the Cyrus troops gather up for some epic PvP fun on our epic PvP server. We've tried looking in all the high level zones for some fun, but other than 'BFG' and 'We PvP For Food', there aren't many Defiant guilds worthy of our attention.
We had gathered in response to the battle cry of our tiny troublemaker Diabolique, who declared "If Mohammed won't come to the mountain, the mountain must come to Mohammed". We rode all the way up to the entrance of Meridian, the Defiant capital city, and literally called them out.

Does your guild roster look like this?
The most fun part of the evening for some was the name-calling, as it did take the Defiants some time to gather up 6000 people willing to step out of safety and fight us. We definitely won the battle of the words and made our presence known. Perhaps next time we shouldn't announce we are from Cyrus, and they will be more willing to take a peek outside!

We never miss an opportunity to recruit!
We held our ground and fought well until we were too outnumbered to survive. However our tiger blood wasn't to be restrained, and like true warriors we went back for some more. Afterall, we aren't BFG - if we get beaten once, no matter what the numbers, we'll always go back and take a few more enemies down with us.
After two raids, the Defiants had vanished again, so we decided to up the stakes and charge the capital! We had been dealing with the guards the entire evening, so it was time to give them more of a runaround. Up the steps we charged, comrades getting 1-shot as we progressed, all the way into their city hall and to the end of the room. Tanc managed to reach the furthest thanks to his tactics of staying behind everyone else like a little baby!
It was a fun evening, and shows how awesome the game could be if there were true PvP objectives to fight for, instead of just standing outside their city to pick a random fight until the zerg shows up. Fingers crossed the developers feel the same way!

Yeah, it definitely was a fun night :)
Steeltooths first impression of seeking Defiants on a World PvP adventure:
I had assigned to raid with the guild to track down and hunt Defiants on their own playground.
I was excited and had sharpened my 2 best friends - my daggers Mr. Left and Mr. Right.
At lvl 30 I replaced my rifle and changed from Marksman to Riftstalker and my 2 daggers never failed me once. Tonight they would prove to me what real world PvP was about. A few seconds I swong the daggers and the light reflected in the steel. I was ready :thumbsup2:
Dia started to invite the guild members and I was proud when she shouted my name and I stepped forward into the ranks and was placed in grp 1. My heart pounded and I was just as excited as the other 2 mid 40s that also entered the ranks. It's not that often we're guarded by 17 lvl 50s and soon we teleported to Meridian.
Redh and Dia both yelled the commands to head out and soon we were standing in front of the stairs of Meridian. I was ready to stealth and beat the first Defiant showing his face and there he was... oh wait. Only lvl 13?! Wtf, nah I left him alone searching for the next. Oh no, all my waiting went from excited to frustration. No high lvls Defiant in sight :(
Then the shouting began. "KNOCK KNOCK!", "ANYONE HOME?", "CYRUS IS HERE!" "COME OUT AND PLAY!" etc and in the middle of the shouting Redh shouted:"CYRUS IS RECRUITING - if you want to reroll to the winning side, check our site...". I was unable to hide the laughter. Then I saw a few highlvl Defiants showing their faces and I thought: "YES!" and went into stealth.
Dia kept shouting "Stay clear of the guards!" and I understood why. Suddenly we had a guard on our tail and he hit like a truck and even some of the 50s lost 1/4 of health each time it hit and only due to some great healing we took out the guard.
More Defiants showed up and when we had another truck-hitting guard on us the Defiants made their move. Suddenly everyone were red to us. I teleported to the marked enemy of Dia and hit one time... missed, 2nd time...missed, 3rd time wooot a hit! and that was about the dmg I made. 1 hit landed every 3 hits or so. Then I got a speed debuff and took a couple hits and I decided to teleport back behind our lines to get out of harms way and my HP was low but only for a few secs. Then the healers had me back on full HP bar again and I teleported back into the fights.
We manage to take down some Defiants as well as the guard but we were backtracking as we were outnumbered and soon Cyrus members were laying along the way we backtracked. The enemies were cheering as they manage to kill us vastly outnumbering us 2 to 1 incl the initial guard
We regrouped and reentered the front of Meridian again and the fights waved back and forth a while and in the end the Defiants disappeared. We had a blast and the adrenaline rushed. Mr. Left and Mr. Right had served me good and I was looking forward to get to lvl 50 to contribute even more.
The last maneuver we made was to charge up the stairs to have a look inside and see who was able to get the farthest inside Meridian. I stealthed and charge up. 1 step, 2 steps, 3 steps and I manage to get to the 6th step and then BAMMM. I was hit from a truck and while my dead body was falling towards the ground I saw the back of the guards rushing after the rest of the Cyrus members running the best they could.
Well, even though I saw nothing of Meridian besides the stairs I think I had done good tonight. Best thing was to fight alongside other Cyrus members and fight and die with them. I'm looking forward to the next encounter and after we got back to Sanctum I wen't into my training hall to practise my moves.

Tanc smart enough too know not too go first! Actually Tanc was the bravest using tactics and actually making a video of his heroic display of last man standing.

River of Souls World Event Extended
We want to thank everyone for coming out today and taking part in the most massive event RIFT has ever seen. Our first run this morning on the European servers was a true test of the platform we have built and a learning experience for us all. With the hold on the final phases in the River of Souls event we have decided to extend Phase 1 an additional week.
This extension will allow everyone more opportunities to earn the event rewards, but we’re not stopping there! Here are a couple of improvements you can look forward to in the next day:
•Increasing the amount of Otherworldy Sourcestones you can earn from Death Rifts and Invasions
•More new rewards for purchase from the World Event merchant!
We’re working on rolling these changes out and will share the full details when they go live.
In the end, more people will have the opportunity to enjoy the event and all the rewards that come with it. We’re thrilled by how many of you turned up today and your encouragement is why we are committed to providing first-class World Events– anything less is unacceptable.
So enjoy the extra week and brand new rewards – We’ll see you next Saturday (04/16/11) at 12:00PM server time when we push Alsbeth back to her bastion once and for all!
Have a great weekend,
The RIFT Development Team
So we get a new chance this weekend. Hope the servers dont get .... this time

Why stand at the front door full with guards and yell at them to come out while you can use the backdoor and just go in and have them yell at you:
I'll show you the way if you are interested :)
