Around a month ago, PvE raiding in Cyrus was very nearly declared dead. What a mistake that would have been - progression has been swift and enjoyable, and the quality of our raid group has improved well beyond expectations.
Most of our raiders at the time stuck with us, and they are now being very richly rewarded. They could have chosen the easy route and quit Cyrus to join a progressive raiding guild - and a couple did - however those that stayed have fully earned every achievement and kill the hard way. Nobody has been carried, nobody has complained, and everyone has worked their hardest to ensure our new found progression continues.
Tonight was one of the most enjoyable moments we have experienced so far.

Genzong is the last man standing against Grugonim. We never doubted him for a second...!
Last night, on the first day of the dungeon reset, we managed to kill Murdantix, Soulrender Zilas, Rune King Molinar, Estrode, Sicaron, and Matron Zamira. Tonight we quickly killed Vladmal Prime to equal our previous best progression, with still 2 and a half raids scheduled this week. Our next target was Grugonim, a boss that we had attempted a few times before and knew that we just had to cut down on some silly individual errors to get the kill.
And get the kill we did! But it was by no means a perfect kill, in fact by the end of the fight there were only two combatants left standing - Grugonim himself and our trusty DPS warrior Genzong! The boss had been brought down from 13.3 million health to just 7,000, but he had enraged and the raid was swiftly wiped. Only Genzong survived, and with 19 grown men crying and yelling at him on Teamspeak to hit the boss harder, he duly obliged. Genzong solo'd Grugonim!
Of course we still have a lot of work to do to make this boss encounter more smooth, but if you want edge of your seat raiding and a truly rewarding and electric Teamspeak atmosphere, you'll only get that if you've wiped many times on a boss with your guild before killing it. Joining another guild and being carried through an instance completely takes out all satisfaction of killing it in the first place.
This week we hope to kill Inquisitor Garau and Inwar Darktide to bring our progression from 1/11 to 10/11 within the space of one month.
Congratulations Cyrus - way to stick together and prove beyond all doubt that the right people stayed with us through the hard times. Tomorrow night we celebrate by forming the most devastating guild raid known in the EU and slaughtering Defiants :D
EDIT:
Darktide Inwar down! Awesome progress, Cyrus rocks!
